St John’s Wood

Bathroom Renovation in St John’s Wood – Bespoke Shower & Handmade Storage

ARDECO Bathroom Ltd completed this full bathroom renovation in St John’s Wood, North West London, transforming an older bathroom with a bath into a practical modern space. The work included a complete strip-out, new plumbing, handcrafted storage cupboards and a shower tray built and tiled on site with carefully planned falls towards the drain.

The finished bathroom has contrasting grey and marble-effect wall tiles, a white vanity unit, a mirror cabinet and made-to-measure storage. In addition, the shower uses a glass panel and a tiled floor rather than a standard prefabricated tray. These details help make effective use of the limited space.

These real project photographs show the completed bathroom, custom-built cupboards, glass shower area and detailed tiled shower floor.

Complete Bathroom Renovation – Scope of Work

  • Full strip-out: removal of the previous bathroom and toilet fittings and existing finishes to prepare the room for renovation.
  • New plumbing: installation of replacement bathroom pipework and the connections required for the new layout.
  • Handmade bathroom cupboards: construction and installation of bespoke white storage cabinets and open shelving to suit the available space.
  • Custom tiled shower tray: a shower floor built on site and finished with tiles rather than a standard manufactured shower tray.
  • Shower floor gradients: shaping the tray to direct water towards the floor drain.
  • Tiling and finishing: installing the marble-effect and dark grey tiles, shower glass, fixtures and bathroom fittings.

Hand-built Shower Tray with Correct Falls

Instead of fitting a conventional shower tray, the team formed the shower base to suit the room. During installation, particular attention went to the tiled floor slope towards the central drain. The floor layout and cut tiles follow that gradient, while the glass panel separates the shower from the toilet and vanity area.

Made-to-measure Bathroom Cabinets

The handcrafted storage includes white cupboards and open shelves built to use the existing recesses efficiently. This approach provides useful bathroom storage without relying solely on ready-made units.

Before Renovation – Original Bathroom

Before the work, the room contained a bath, toilet, dark wall tiles and older storage. The photograph below documents its original condition and shows the difference after the complete renovation.
