Every fuse board unit should be guarded by an RCD or RCCB in the UK. Residual-current device’s (RCD’s), or residual-current circuit breaker’s (RCCB’s), is a device that quickly breaks an electrical circuit to prevent serious harm from an ongoing electric shock, which supplying extra safety with no need to worry when in your home.

ARDECO electricians are part P approved and will renew your old fuse boards as removal or replacement should only be performed by qualified part P electricians and fit your property with a new fuse boards punctually and efficiency.

You must make sure that in the event of an emergency, your property have the right lighting to illuminate the exit path, either is residential buildings or office units. ARDECO offers full installation, maintenance and testing services for Commercial and Industrial clients.

The non-obstructed, quickest and safest escape route must be lit to a minimum of 1 lux during an emergency. If the open area is less than 60m2 and isn’t part of an escape route then emergency lighting isn’t required, however the exit doors for the emergency escape route must have signs or an emergency bulkhead light.

We offer complete examination of electrical appliances and equipment to ensure they are safe to use, with printed traceable documentation.

The best way of ensuring that your appliances are safe is to have a PAT test carried out on them. This is a good way for landlords to ensure that they are meeting their legal obligations to maintain high standards of electrical safety in their rented property.

To establish the safety and suitability of your electrical appliances, we will carry out a visual inspection of the appliance, its plug and lead. For Class I equipment we will also inject test signals into the cable and appliance to ensure their integrity.

Upon completion of the portable appliance inspection and testing you will receive a report that details the following as a minimum:

A full set of test results for each appliance tested.

A full list of any failed items with an explanation of their failure.

A visible pass or fail label on each appliance detailing the inspection date, next test due and the inspector’s signature.

A laminate certificate indicating that your portable appliances have been tested.

All electrical installations deteriorate with age and use. They should therefore be inspected and tested at regular intervals to check whether they are in a satisfactory condition for continued use.

Such safety checks are commonly referred to as ‘periodic inspection and testing’. We check the condition of the electrics against the UK standard for the safety of electrical installations, BS 7671 – Requirements for Electrical Installations (IET Wiring Regulations).

Once completed you will be issued with an Electrical Condition Report (EICR).

A periodic inspection will:

  • Reveal if any of your electrical circuits or equipment are overloaded.
  • Find any potential electric shock risks and fire hazards.
  • Identify any defective electrical work.
  • Highlight any lack of earthing or bonding.

Tests are also carried out on wiring and fixed electrical equipment to check that they are safe. A schedule of circuits is also provided, which is invaluable for a property.
