Painting

A decorator is a tradesperson responsible for the painting and decorating of buildings. The purpose of painting is to improve the appearance of a building and to protect it from damage by water, corrosion, insects, and mold.

Interior Design

Interior design is the art of enhancing the interior of a building to achieve a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment for the people using the space.

An interior designer plans, researches, and manages these projects. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that includes conceptual development, space planning, site inspections, programming, research, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

Wallpaper

Wallpaper is used to decorate the interior walls of domestic and public buildings. It is usually sold in rolls and is applied onto a wall using wallpaper paste. Wallpaper can come as plain lining paper, textured with a regular repeating pattern, or with a single non-repeating large design carried over a set of sheets. The smallest rectangle that can be tiled to form the whole pattern is known as the pattern repeat.

Wallpaper printing techniques include surface printing, gravure printing, silk screen-printing, rotary printing, and digital printing. Wallpaper is made in long rolls which are hung vertically on a wall. Patterned wallpaper is designed so that the pattern repeats and can be hung next to each other to continue the pattern without the join being seen.

In the case of large complex patterns of images this is normally achieved by starting the second piece halfway into the length of the repeat so that if the pattern going down the roll repeats after 24 inches, the piece next to it is cut from the roll to begin 12 inches down the pattern from the first. The number of times the pattern repeats horizontally across a roll does not matter for this purpose. A single pattern can be issued in several different colourways.

Filling Cracks

Buildings and structures are moving all the time, but usually, these movements are so small they are not noticeable. Movement can be caused by defects, movement of the ground, foundation failure, decay of the building fabric, and so on. If a structure is unable to accommodate this movement, cracking is likely to occur.

The appearance of distortions and cracks can be visually unattractive and disconcerting for occupants, and if left untreated they can affect the integrity, safety, and stability of the structure. The underlying causes need to be found for treatment to be effective.  Without suitable processes in place, your solutions may fail, or they could even create additional problems.

A good problem-solving process involves four fundamental stages: problem definition, devising alternatives, evaluating alternatives, and then implementing the most viable solutions.

We can solve this problem for you.

Sealant

Is your silicone sealant around your sink or bath old and mouldy? Or maybe you just moved home and there is bad-looking caulk in the shower?

At  ARDECO we remove and fix sealant issues to give your bathroom a whole new look.

Plaster Repair

Why does plaster crack?

You may not be aware, but your home is under constant pressure.

As seasons change, your property constantly expands and shrinks due to temperature changes. And it’s only a matter of time before a spiderweb of plaster cracks form at the edges of your ceiling or walls.

Plaster holes are also common, especially if heavy furniture is bumped against your walls.

Our skilled experts at ARDECO can fill in plaster cracks and holes with hard-wearing wall plaster, giving your walls and ceilings a nice smooth finish.
